CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA / RankWire.AI / – Bank of America has unveiled a $250 billion plan aimed at financing vital infrastructure initiatives throughout the United States. Spanning an 18-month period, the program’s activities will be eligible from January 1, 2026, to July 4, 2027, with a focus on advancing digital systems, energy networks, and essential public infrastructure. The bank emphasized that this initiative is intended to bolster projects related to technology, power generation, transportation, water management, and other critical sectors.

The Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative extends beyond conventional loans; Bank of America will include qualifying primary-market loans, investments, capital markets transactions, and advisory services in reaching the $250 billion goal. Additionally, the program encompasses banking offerings and supply-chain solutions tied to eligible infrastructure ventures. Funding can benefit both corporate entities and individual assets, with the bank leveraging its corporate banking, investment banking, and markets divisions to assist clients seeking capital for significant projects across the U.S.

Digital infrastructure remains a key component of the initiative. Eligible projects in this area include data centers, telecommunications infrastructure, semiconductors, computing hardware, and related equipment. The energy sector covers both traditional and renewable power generation, storage solutions, and distribution systems. Core infrastructure investments target transportation, electricity transmission, grid improvements, water systems, critical minerals, and mining operations. Bank of America stated that the initiative also aims to address increasing infrastructure needs associated with computing, manufacturing, energy supplies, and domestic supply chains.

Program encompasses technology, energy, and fundamental infrastructure

The bank noted that its Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams will oversee the coordination of the program, involving participation from all eight of its business lines. Jim DeMare, co-president of Bank of America, explained that the effort focuses on infrastructure that underpins economic growth, energy security, and technological innovation. The bank plans to monitor qualifying transactions over the 18-month window, with each contributing toward the overall $250 billion commitment.

Job creation and workforce development are also integral to the bank’s stated objectives for the initiative. According to Bank of America, infrastructure projects can generate employment opportunities in construction, manufacturing, technology, and long-term operations. The bank further supports training programs in collaboration with employers, nonprofit groups, and community colleges. In 2025, it allocated nearly $40 million to over 730 workforce development partners nationwide, focusing on skills training, education, and employment readiness.

Funding efforts extend through July 2027

Bank of America reported that its workforce partners connected more than 90,000 individuals to jobs in 2025, while these organizations also provided training, educational opportunities, or career preparation to over 290,000 people. These figures were shared separately from the new infrastructure financing target. Karen Fang, global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, highlighted that large infrastructure projects require synchronized funding across multiple interconnected sectors and also serves as co-head of Global Capital Solutions.

Progress will be tracked based on eligible financing activity completed within the program timeframe, using a measurement approach aligned with the framework established for the bank’s existing $1.5 trillion sustainable finance goal. The new initiative specifically targets infrastructure development and modernization efforts in the United States. Its conclusion date of July 4, 2027, extends beyond the nation’s 250th anniversary. The bank indicated that this effort aims to support infrastructure, job creation, economic activity, and community development nationwide.
